More than 50% of Mainstream Moms are Turning Green

It’s tipping point time.

From Media Post – Engage: Moms  As education becomes more readily available on products, moms are opting to buy greener options — “more than half.” See full article here from Baby Center‘s  Tina Sharkey.

This poses a couple of questions: First, why did moms start becoming more selective; secondly, why didn’t the “dads” who are in the majority of the decision-making positions inside companies make the right decisions and provide better products to begin with? Just asking…

The answer to the first question can be found in the rise of women’s voices with sites like Healthy Child, MomsRising, OrganicMania, Women’s Voices, and many many others championing, informing, and educating the masses of moms. It’s hard to read anything in a women’s publication these days that isn’t discussing toxic-free something.  But that’s half of the story, nothing would change unless moms cared and they do care!

That is the bottom line difference — this isn’t about being pro-women, it’s about being pro-those who care enough to make good decisions. Since moms are making the better choices and buying better things – Yay Moms!

As to why the products weren’t made safely to begin with? It’s partly because no one knew about the issues. A few companies fixed the problem before consumers asked for it, but most big business places needed to have major market movement before they would shut down a legacy product line and replace it with something better — over 50% is a major market movement.

Yay, moms again! Your actions are good for the family and good for the world.
